Radio frequency engineers

Radio frequency (RF) engineers create equipment to transmit and receive data in RF and microwave bands. They often work on highly specific projects, creating systems to meet specific requirements. Most radio frequency engineers will work for companies based in, or with needs in, communications areas.

Mobile communications is a very important sector to radio frequency engineering but applications can be found in other types of work, for example medical equipment design. The region has many telecommunications companies, as well as more specialised companies providing equipment and expertise for specific applications.

Entry into the industry will normally require a specific related degree backed up by a good portfolio.
