Tax

Her Majesty's Revenue & Customs (HMRC) is one of the best known employers in the field. Formed from combining the Inland Revenue and Customs and Excise departments, HMRC has offices throughout the UK which are responsible for the administration of:
- Income tax
- Corporation tax
- Capital gains tax
- Petroleum revenue tax
- Inheritance tax
- National Insurance contributions
- Stamp duties
- Customs and Excise
- VAT
HMRC is also responsible for the payment of:
- Working tax credit
- Child tax credit
- Child benefit
There are also a wide range of other services to customers, members of the public and businesses such as the provision of electronic services, advice about tax and national insurance and ensuring that employers meet the National Minimum Wage requirements.
There are HMRC offices throughout the UK. In the Yorkshire region there are HMRC offices in Hull, York, Sheffield, Barnsley, Rotherham, Shipley, Leeds and Bradford with large offices in Leeds/ and Bradford which contribute to national policy work.

Technical and Compliance:
Working on the interpretation and application of policy and legislation to deliver the department's core business.
Management and Leadership:
Responsibility for managing, motivating and directing people, managing resources and delivering operational processes.
Policy:
Developing and modifying departmental policies and providing expert advice. You could be working on Taxes, National Insurance, Tax Credits or more specialist areas such as International Taxation or Oil Taxation.
Specialist:
Specialist areas include accountancy, statistics, economics, finance, legal, marketing, HR and project management.
